1590 AM...Eastland's First Radio Station In June of 1953, Eastland County was introduced to a new sound...AM radio broadcast. The call signs at that time wer KERC, which stood for Eastland, Ranger and Cisco. This radio staiton offered a variety of programming, but the baseline would be COUNTRY MUSIC, NEWS, SPORTS, and the all famous BARGAIN BOX! In 1980, the station assumed the corporate name WDS Broadcasting Company, at which time the call signs were changed to KEAS to include ALL of Eastland County. KEAS 1590 AM countinued a heritage of country music and information. By 1985, the community got it's second FM station when KEAS added a 3000-Watt transmitter side by side with the original transmitting device that launched the first broadcast for KERC. KEAS AM and FM were owned and operated by Eastland pioneer Dan Staggs until his sudden death in 1995.
